Lighting is an important element of interior design because of its direct and indirect importance to the interior space and the pieces of furniture and accessories present within this space. The importance of natural and artificial lighting in terms of the physical and direct sense and the process of visual perception of lighting, the extent of the impact of the fall of lighting and the shadows resulting from it and how they interact from The aesthetic and functional aspects and the effects they show in terms of aesthetic form, how the texture is seen for the furniture pieces used, and the final form that results from their use within the architectural space. This study also aims to choose appropriate lighting methods in order to achieve functional and aesthetic standards and take into account the psychology of individuals in the space. The study sheds light on the problem of lighting and its impact on psychological aspects and its impact on individuals, and the extent to which lighting is related to functional and aesthetic standards in order to achieve environmental comfort. This study included the definition of lighting, its importance, types, and the source of this lighting, whether natural lighting or artificial lighting, and a study of lighting in residential spaces. The most important results are highlighting the importance of the impact of lighting in the interior design of each space, the process of employing and distributing perfect lighting according to the activity to be performed in all spaces, controlling the intensity of lighting, realizing the importance of light direction, and increasing the efficiency of users.
