This study aimed to measure the impact of mobile phone applications on the performance of information technology units, while testing the mediating role of electronic digitization in this relationship, as applied to the Palestinian public universities in the Gaza Strip. The study adopted the descriptive analytical approach, and data were collected using a questionnaire administered to a sample of (253) academic and administrative staff members from Al-Azhar University and the Islamic University, during the academic year 2024/2025. Data were analyzed using SPSS, PROCESS Macro, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM).and The results revealed a statistically significant effect of mobile phone applications on the performance of information technology units, with the model explaining (61.2%) of the total variance in performance. Furthermore, electronic digitization was found to play a partial mediating role in this relationship, with a mediation ratio of (44.6%), confirming that the impact of mobile phone applications is not limited to a direct effect but extends through enhancing digitization processes within the institution. The results also indicated that the dimensions of "flexibility and accessibility" and "ease of use" were the most influential in improving performance, while the dimensions of "security and privacy" and "technical support" had relatively lower effects. Additionally, the results revealed statistically significant differences in the main variables attributed to job position, years of experience, and educational qualification, in favor of groups more engaged with technology (academic-administrative staff, PhD holders, and those with intermediate experience). In light of these findings, the study recommended strengthening institutional investment in mobile phone applications within Palestinian universities, adopting a comprehensive institutional strategy for electronic digitization, enhancing integration between mobile applications and digitization initiatives, developing electronic decision support systems based on mobile phone applications, and expanding the scope of administrative and technical process automation within information technology units...................
