This descriptive study aimed to identify the extent to which Palestinian youth (aged 16–35) in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank rely on local newspapers as a source of information, and its relationship to their level of awareness of national issues. Based on the Media Dependency Theory, the study utilized a descriptive survey methodology, administering an electronic questionnaire to a random sample of 438 young Palestinian men and women in December 2020.The findings revealed that the high-frequency readership rate of local newspapers among youth is very low (14.8%), with the majority reading them primarily to follow political and social changes for one hour or less per day. Political topics and the issue of Jerusalem topped the respondents' interests. The study showed positive cognitive, affective, and behavioral impacts resulting from this exposure, as newspapers enhanced their political awareness and ability to discuss national issues.
