Abstract
This study aimed to identify the level of deans’ practice of teamwork in Palestinian universities in the southern governorates from the perspective of faculty members, and to examine differences in their assessments according to the study variables. The study adopted the descriptive-analytical approach, drawing on field data collected from a sample of 292 faculty members at four Palestinian universities, selected using a multistage sampling technique. A questionnaire was used as the data collection instrument and consisted of two sections: the first covered personal and demographic information, while the second comprised 13 items measuring teamwork. The results revealed that the level of deans’ practice of teamwork was high, with an approximate mean of 3.47 and a relative weight of 69.3%. Encouraging faculty members to accomplish tasks through teamwork ranked first, whereas practicing teamwork for the purpose of intellectual production ranked last. The results also indicated statistically significant differences attributable to academic qualification, favoring holders of master’s degrees; academic rank, favoring lecturers in some comparisons; and university, favoring Al-Azhar University–Gaza in some comparisons. However, no statistically significant differences were found attributable to gender, job position, years of service, or college. The study recommended enhancing faculty members’ participation in planning, activating academic and research teams, and developing leadership practices that promote collaboration and collective problem-solving....................
