This study aims to highlight the role of strategic planning in improving the performance of institutions. Two branches of Al-Jamhuria bank, namely Ahmed Alsherif and Al-Maidan were chosen as research setting for conducting this study to benefit from strategic planning in the institutions that are to be considered essential in Libya. As mentioned above the two branches of Al-Jamhuria bank were chosen as samples and taken as a case study. The study adopted the descriptive approach with relation to the theoretical side and the analytical approach for the practical side. A questionnaire was utilized as a data collection tool and the results were analyzed by the SPSS software for analyzing statistical data. The research findings revealed that there was a connection between strategic planning and the improvement of performance in institutions. The study was concluded by presenting some recommendations that could help in improving such financial institutions
