This study, titled "The Functions of the Semantic Component in Conceptual Metaphor in the Qur’anic Narrative Verses," analyzes the mechanisms of conceptual metaphor in the stories of the Qur’an from the perspective of cognitive linguistics, which views metaphor not merely as a rhetorical ornament but as a cognitive tool that contributes to concept formation and guides understanding. The study aims to reveal the role of the semantic component in conveying theological, educational, and psychological meanings, transforming abstract concepts into concrete images that facilitate comprehension and deepen the Qur’anic discourse’s impact on the audience’s consciousness. The research focuses on selected models from Qur’anic narratives, particularly the stories of prophets such as Moses and Joseph, examining structural and ontological patterns of conceptual metaphor and tracing the functions of the semantic component across multiple levels: lexical, syntactic, contextual, and interpretive. The findings indicate that this component performs argumentative, doctrinal, psychological, educational, and aesthetic functions, contributing to the embodiment of abstract meanings, enhancing emotional engagement, and reinforcing theological and educational values through cognitively accessible imagery rooted in human experience. The study concludes that conceptual metaphor in Qur’anic narratives constitutes an effective cognitive and rhetorical mechanism that enriches meaning, deepens understanding, and builds semantic bridges between sensory experience and spiritual dimensions, thereby enhancing the Qur’anic discourse’s effectiveness in shaping the religious and linguistic awareness of the audience.
