Abstract
This study examines the spatial distribution of fire stations in the city of Bani Walid, with the aim of determining the optimal number and locations of stations to ensure coverage of populated areas within a response time not exceeding 6 minutes, using the Location-Specific Coverage Model (LSCM) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The study relied on data regarding populated neighborhoods, the existing station and the road network, assuming an operational speed of 40 km/h. Arrival time and coverage matrices were then prepared, and the model was solved using the Solver tool in Microsoft Excel. The results showed that the existing station covers only the municipal district, whilst achieving full coverage would require the establishment of seven stations, comprising the existing station and six additional stations in the districts of Al-Dhahra, Soof aljeen, Abu Ras, Abu Najra, Maymun and Abu Rawi. The results underscore the importance of site coverage models in supporting spatial planning and optimising the distribution of fire services...............
