Abstract
This research aims to investigate the possibility of adding marble factory wastes to the concrete mixture by replacing it with a part of regular Portland cement and using it in the construction process, and examine its effect on the properties of concrete. Wastes from crushed marble factories were reused to specific sizes as a substitute for a fraction of cement in the following proportions (5%, 10%, 20%) and then studied the compressive strength of the resulting concrete. The compressive strength results of the cubes at the age of twenty-eight days for the reference mixture were 49.2Mpa, and for concrete mixtures produced from marble residues (5%, 10%, 20%) were (45.8, 42.3, 36.5) Mpa respectively. From these results, no significant differences were found in the compressive strength between the reference mixture and the added mixes, especially the first and the second mixture. It was also observed that the capacity of concrete began to decline with the increase in the proportion of residues. Therefore, the production of this type of concrete is economical compared to ordinary concrete which has the same resistance and it also protects the environment.
